Our Vision

The vision of this program is to take a group of young men and women ages 12-18 interested in aviation and build kit planes and/or restore various aircraft. The “students” will receive flight instruction and ground school along the way for a specific amount of hours (read effort) put in. To be specific, after the first 50 hours one hour of flight instruction will be given. Thereafter, every 10 hours will yield another flight lesson. Lessons will include but not be limited to simulator, glider and fixed wing flight instruction. For students interested in other aviation career fields, there is a possibility of some form of future “credit” towards college A & P classes, etc…

Upon completion of the aircraft it will make the journey to EAA AirVenture. The goal here is to give the group recognition for all their hard work and to promote this program and others like it. Our dream is that the aircraft (depending on the type of plane) will make several stops along the way, giving kids with cancer and other illnesses rides!

It is after this time that we will offer sweepstakes tickets for our Thatcher CX4. Other aircraft may either be sold as a sweepstakes or on an individual basis at the discretion of the FYA. All profits will go to benefit the future of this program and other youth aviation education programs.
